Carole Doyle Peel: A Delight in Drawing

Artist’s monograph.

Carole Doyle Peel is Professor Emeritus, Painting Drawing at he California College of the Arts.

From the foreword by Larry McClary:
Carole’s own distinctive style is the result of just such an active, informed, and independent intelligence. [she] skillfully weaves the dimensionality of the Italian Quattrocento, the decorative surface treatment found in post Impressionist japonisme, and the spatial ambiguity of abstract expressionism, into drawings whose psychological content and beautiful, abstract arrangements have won her so many admirers.

Like artists in the past, I feel a great debt to many who like myself aspire to conquer the mastery of drawing. I remain awed by the pursuit.
