My rally to grow the Fine Arts Museums’ collection was enthusiastically answered. Surpassing our preliminary goal of one hundred gifts of art, the campaign garnered more than 1,000 outstanding gifts from 275 donors, embodying the generous San Francisco Bay Area spirit that has underpinned the evolution of our collections since the de Young opened in 1895. This impressive number comprised both outright and promised gifts from donors’ treasured collections as well as gracious donations that allowed us to nimbly acquire outstanding artworks on the market.
